Tech Tip: Making a Perfect Triangle in Opensim/Second Life

To make a perfect equilateral triangle, start with a box.
Give it full taper on either the x or the y axis to form a triangle.

Multiply the width on that axis by .866 to get the value of z (height), to make all 3 sides exactly the same dimension. Here, X = 1 so 1 multiplied by .866 will give you the value for the triangle's height, in the Z field.
In geometry and trigonometry, the value .866 is known as a constant. It is always used to make an equilateral triangle.  If  X were some crazy odd number like 3.964, then multiply 3.964 by .866 to get Z, and 3.433 for Z would give you a perfect triangle with 3 equal sides.
